Earth Day(s) Numbered?
Most all of us, by now, have read about the effects of Global Warming upon the wildlife of the World. Whatever affects the Earth affects us all, human and animal kingdoms alike. What we refer to as “habitat” is also where we live. The human race doesn’t have very good prospects for continuing to exist on this planet beyond the next couple of hundred years.
The most radical of “forward-thinking” scientists think our future lies in outer space, as we have to migrate there when the Earth is no longer habitable. What a dreadful thought!! It is an unrealistic vision, as only a handful of humans would be chosen to perpetuate this life form beyond our planet. Stupid.
We are mortal, and as mortal lifeforms our existence on this planet may be limited by our ability to adapt. If we cannot find the political willpower to make necessary changes in how we live, then we will follow so many other lifeforms into extinction.
Much of this is just beyond our comprehension. We are totally unable to imagine an Earth without human life; but, in fact, human life has existed for a minuscule fraction of time in Earth’s history. We are not even an *asterisk in the Universe.
What’s my point? ENJOY EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE. ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF THE EARTH. ENJOY IT ALL WHILE WE CAN.
