Boomers Dream of Travel and Romance
What do you think we older guys dream about? Not in our “Wildest Dreams,” but in our aspirations for the future that remains to be lived.
I do know that I don’t want to die sitting at my computer, writing in a blog, although there are many worse ways to go.
In the larger scheme of things, I need to set some goals for my remaining years. I don’t want to look back over my shoulder some day and say that “I always wanted to…but just never took the time.”
I have always had a romantic notion of traveling off to visit the castles in Europe and the Pyramids in Egypt.
My ancestral roots are in Germany, and I have seen many photos, but photos don’t capture the smells and ambiance of a place. I want to see Neuschwanstein Castle in morning mist and in the glow of an early evening sunset.
The same is true of the Pyramids of Egypt and the Sphinx. Unless I can feel the heat of the wind carrying the sand I will not have really experienced Egypt.
My strong feelings about other places has also made me wonder about previous lives, but this is not the time or place to explore that aspect of my imagination.
