Come on Now…Broken Tooth Saga Continues
What a crappy deal this is.
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about breaking my front tooth.
Then I went to the dentist and was fitted for a crown…and provided with a temporary “plastic” tooth that was to last the three weeks until the porcelain crown was ready.
A week later, last night at dinner, the temporary “plastic” tooth broke out and into my mouth–which was full of food! Guess what? We were having dinner with my wife’s EX-husband! And his wife! And my wife’s two adult sons!
Of course…they all wanted to SEE! What fun! Am I not the stoop?
So…first thing this morning I called the dentist and went in at 9 a.m. to have the temporary “plastic” tooth re-glued into place. The technician took good care of me and I was out the door at 9:20 a.m.
Sounds good? Too good. At 9:45, my re-glued plastic tooth breaks out again…at a coffee shop…while I am eating a damn cinnamon roll! A SOFT cinnamon roll.
So… I call the dental technician again. She suggests they fabricate a new plastic temporary tooth for me and that I come in at 5:20 p.m. this afternoon. That is just three hours from now.
I am at home…in hiding.

I don’t know why your family want to look at it so much. It really doesn’t look that bad. Big hug to you. Dentist…can’t live with them, can’t live without them. I’m looking forward to the work I have to have done.
Oh no! That must have been the most awkward and horrible situation.
I just wrote about my teeth today as well…but hopefully you get to fix it again real soon. My heart goes out to you. I know how you must feel.
Oh dear Doug!
That does seem like the Dentist is not providing the right kind of temporary filling/cap.
But from what I do know, if it is the Incisors (which it is in your case) and bite on food must not have the kind of “pull” effect on the Incisors. That will cause the filling/cap (even the permanent one) to shear from the base.
“Pull” like when eating an apple and the hand leverages the apple to tear of the bitten part. I learned this from my Dentist.
The way to avoid the “pull” is to cut the apple or whatever food item into pieces so that it will avoid the hand from using the food item to leverage on the Incisor.
Hang in there Doug.
Wow, there’s a lot going on with your tooth! I would hide too. I hope this one lasts until the other one is ready!
