Millions of Bloggers - More to Come?

Published by dougkueffler at 4:05 am under Lifestyle, Writing Edit This

When I begin this blog nearly one year ago, the internet blogger braggers claimed that there were about 77 million blogs online.   Now, the latest number claims over 100 million blogs.  How much more room is there in cyberspace for people to claim as their own?

As you may have discovered, a search of blogs will reveal that someone, somewhere, is blogging about every conceivable subject, animal, sport, hobby, medical condition, and disease.  Virtually every charitable function is publicized, every charity drive, every charity fund, and everything else that we could contribute money to support.

I even did it myself, by recently soliciting contributions via a Paypal Donate button to repair my broken front tooth. I received $64 from seven contributors, all of whom I thanked with an e-mail.  One person commented that I was just like every other “liberal,” in America, just trying to get a hand-out.

And how much more advertising money is available to support our blogging habits?  Most of the advertising on my blogs (not this one) is from other bloggers promoting their blogs or from home crafters selling their jewelry.  This “business” has become self-perpetuating, with bloggers selling ads to obtain a few dollars to use in advertising on other blogs.

Will it go on forever?  Well, I don’t know what “forever” means, but what I see are thousands of folks joining the blogging world and thousands leaving as well. Most of us find out that this is a lot of work too.  Some of the time it is fun and rewarding, and other times…..well, it just feels like a job.

That might mean it is time to move on to doing yard work instead.

So true. It is sometimes “work”. Blogging is easy enough, but traffic and advetising is something altogether different. I wonder what genius came up with the idea of advetising on blogs? He is probably somewhere laughing while he counts his money. Why couldn’t I think of that. Oh well, I am sure there will be more opportunities to come up woth internet related ideas. Your blog is good. I hope you don’t start doing more yard work.
