New Year Actions Still Speak Louder Than Words
New Year Actions Still Speak Louder Than Words
I can’t say I have always followed this idiom, but I have to admit to believing it to be true. So if I don’t consciously ACT as I know I should, then I am resisting for some reason…probably selfishness.
The one Action that I am thinking of right now…as I write this…is how I might be able to help out my wife around the house. I do some stuff, sure, but I let a lot of stuff go and I know that she will pick up the slack. As I write this on Sunday morning, just about an hour before I plan to watch an NFL playoff game, my wife is downstairs vacuuming. That is something I could have accomplished on Friday. Mostly our problem is pet hair and dander…a neverending problem. I get “resistant” to repeatedly vacuuming when I know that the carpet will be just the same in a couple of days. I realize that a daily vacuuming would go a long way toward improving air quality in the house, and so that is my first Resolved ACTION: A daily vacuuming of the carpeted areas of the house. I think that is a New Year Resolution that will benefit us all…pets included.

Sounds like a great resolution! With five kids, I have to be sure to vacuum at least once per day which sometimes seems futile because I know they are going to track in something else right after I vacuum. But I do always feel better seeing the vacuum tracks across the carpet, even if they don’t last long!
Every woman I know LOATHES having to vaccuum. But if it is done on a regular basis,it takes less time and energy.
Good on you! At least you are aware of the problem. Promise to let us know in a month how your resolution is going??
