Grass Gone Wild

Published by dougkueffler at 7:05 am under Retiree Projects Edit This

Grass Gone Wild? Yes, it doesn’t take long once the rain begins My recent knee and back problems have prevented me from keeping up with the yard work, primarily the lawn mowing, as you can see.
Grass Gone Wild
I don’t understand how it is that we can water this yard for SIX HOURS every evening and the grass still turns brown and splotchy, hardly grows at all in some places, and totally gives up its space to KNAPWEED out near the road; but, let the rains begin, and in just a couple or three days (enough to totally ruin the Labor Day weekend), the grass has grown six inches overnight!

Okay, so that is an exaggeration,  but the grass is over eight inches tall and hanging all over the sidewalk and driveway.  My wife, I suspect, thinks my “knee and back problems” are pretty darned convenient, but honestly, I do love to cut grass!

I had to buy a new weed trimmer, a Whacker in fact, because I ruined the other one that was only two months old, and my stupid 24-volt CORDLESS (gutless) trimmer would never handle the edges you see here, and out in back along the fence is even worse!  I’ll bet it stands a foot tall along the fence.  Why can’t I grow potatoes or tomatoes or cucumbers that easily?  Maybe I will make the fenceline into a garden area and just throw seeds out there to see what happens.  No more trimming!   Unfortunately, our dog REALLY likes to RUN back and forth, back and forth, ALONG THE FENCE, barking at the joggers and the horses and dogs that pass by the house.  Garden plants would be hard pressed to stand up to 95 pounds of charging woof.
