Extreme Heat Deadly Risk for Older Adults
Extreme Heat is Deadly for Older Folks
The other day I made a quick reference to discussing the topic of whether older folks are less able to adapt to hotter weather. Not everyone can afford air conditioning or even tolerates it very well, but this time of year we need to be aware of the dangers that hotter temperatures
present. Heat does affect older folks more severely than the young.
I don’t usually provide links to other stories on other sites, but this is pretty important advice to remember, and the MSN Health and Fitness page does an excellent job, I think, of bringing together all the facts and recommendations concerning the Deadly Risk of Extreme Heat for Older Adults. “Most of the 200 Americans who die of heat and humidity are age 50 or older.” (This link goes to the same article on MSN)
So, please check it out, and then check-up/check-in with your older relatives (and neighbors too). Do this for your own protection.
